2018 Mixed Programme
Shining a light on an important era of British history, the thrilling new dance piece celebrates the 70th anniversary of the arrival of SS Empire Windrush that brought the first Caribbean migrants to the UK. Choreographed by Artistic Director Sharon Watson, the work is a lively celebration of the rise of multicultural Britain and features an uplifting soundtrack from calypso, jazz and blues to ska, gospel and reggae by Christella Litras.
Audiences will also experience performances of Maybe Yes Maybe, Maybe No Maybe, by Aletta Collins, a uniquely witty piece of dance that blends movement and voices; and a revival of Shadows by Christopher Bruce CBE, now featured in the AQA GCSE dance curriculum, and described by The Times as “emotive, traumatic and weighted with memory — or is it fear?”
